All About Teddywidders
The Teddywidder is a relatively new and growing breed, with breeders in Europe (Germany, Belgium, etc.) working for years to develop long-haired dwarf rabbits with teddy-bear-like appearance.
In the U.S., breeders started recreating the breed more recently (around mid-2010s), importing from European lines, developing their own standards, and organizing clubs like the Teddywidder Rabbit Club and the North America Teddywidder Rabbit Club.
A big part of the breeding has been focused on combining softness of fur, teddy-like look, lop ears (for the “widder” part in some strains), plush wool covers, sweet temperament, and making them excellent pets from a young age.
